How the SportPesa Mega Jackpot works

The Mega Jackpot asks for the full-time result of 17 matches — home win (1), draw (X) or away win (2). There is no partial credit for getting a scoreline close; each match is simply right or wrong. Getting all 17 takes the headline prize, and SportPesa pays declining bonus amounts for 16, 15, 14 and 13 correct, split between everyone who reaches that tier.

That bonus structure matters more than most players appreciate. The headline jackpot is what gets advertised, but the money that actually reaches Kenyan players in any given month overwhelmingly comes from the 13 and 14 tiers. Building a slip that maximises your chance of landing 13+ is a different exercise from building one that chases all 17, and the second approach is what most people default to without realising it.

Draws are where Mega Jackpot slips are won and lost

The single most common mistake on a 17-game slip is under-selecting draws. The flip side is that you cannot simply pack the slip with draws either, because you need to be right about which matches finish level. Tight, low-scoring sides meeting each other, derbies with a lot at stake, and matches where both teams are content with a point are the places to look.
